Border Livestock Exchange Ltd to week ending 7th November sold 3,482 Prime Lambs including 464 Ewes and Tups, 750 Store Lambs and 184 Prime Cattle and Food Chain Cows & Bulls.

Lamb numbers still good for the time of year considering the poor summer and autumn.  Cast Ewes going direct from their farm to the abattoir are becoming scarce and starting to rise in value suiting some of the larger feeders.  Prime Cattle and Cast Cows are also showing a rise in demand and value with returns for Cows and Cast Bulls reaching the record levels experienced in the summer.  Store Stock: with few local seasonal sales left are commanding premium prices for quality consignments. 

Prime Cattle: Steers from Newham Hall to £1,213 with the consignment averaging £1,018; Springhill, Seahouses £1,186; Cairndinnis, Haddington 280p and £1,039 per head.  Charolais Heifers from Easington Grange to £991 and Lilburn Estate with 20 Heifers to 280p per kilo.  Young Bulls from Acklington Park to £921 per head.  Cast Cows sold to 220p per kilo and £934 per head from Eastfield of Lempitlaw, Kelso. 

Store Cattle: Yearling Charolais Steers to £690 and Heifers to £650.
